The global mission of UNAIDS as the main advocate for worldwide action against HIV/AIDS is to lead, strengthen and support an expanded response to the epidemic. This response has four goals:
  • to prevent the spread of HIV;
    to provide care and support for those infected and affected by the disease;
  • to reduce the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS;
  • to alleviate the socioeconomic and human impact of the epidemic.

    The purpose of the Fund is to attract, manage and disburse additional resources through a new public-private partnership that will make a sustainable and significant contribution to the reduction of infections, illness and death, thereby mitigating the impact caused by HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in countries in need, and contributing to poverty reduction as part of the Millenium Development goals.
    To support implementation of its HIV/AIDS strategy, the Bank has established a multisectoral AIDS Campaign Team for Africa (ACTafrica), based in the Office of the Regional Vice President for Africa. The high-level placement of ACTafrica underscores the Bank's commitment to HIV/AIDS prevention and care and enables the team to maximize collaboration among the various sector families. The team serves as the region's focal point and clearinghouse on HIV/AIDS and will provide a variety of services.
    loveLife is a comprehensive national adolescent behaviour change intervention designed to reduce the rate of HIV infection, other sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy among adolescents. The loveLife strategy combines a sustained, high visibility media education and awareness campaign, with countrywide youth–friendly service development in government clinics and community level outreach and support programs for young people.

    Uganda's response to the epidemic has been marked with high political commitment at various level, openness about HIV/AIDS that enhanced behaviour change communication interventions, unprecedented support from international development partners; and action from sectors of government and civil society. This website provides information on the status and trends of the epidemic in the country. It serves as an information sharing platform about the country's responses to HIV/AIDS over the years, highlights challenges and proposals for the way forward to addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic at the community, district and national levels.

    Our mission is to contribute to the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria by improving the quality of HIV/AIDS communication messages and by strengthening the quality of policy response and interventions.
    9. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

    CDC employs a comprehensive approach to preventing further spread of HIV and AIDS. Strategies include monitoring the epidemic to target prevention and care activities, researching the effectiveness of prevention methods, funding local prevention efforts for high-risk communities, and fostering linkages with care and treatment programs. CDC is working in collaboration with many other governmental and nongovernmental partners at all levels to implement, evaluate, and further develop and strengthen effective HIV prevention efforts nationwide.
